Tungsten carbide is tungsten + carbon.

Tungsten on its own likely won’t be used in a ring, it’ll probably be tungsten carbide. A tungsten carbide ring requires an enormous amount of focused stress before it’ll shatter/crack/fail. Tungsten carbide will not bend or deform, it’ll simply fracture.

The amount of force required to break the ring in an uncontrolled manner, such as in a car accident, will likely obliterate your finger/hand before the ring yields.

If you have a hand injury, emergency or hospital personnel will be able to remove the ring in a controlled and safe manner.

If you want a ring that’ll easily break, try obsidian.

If you were in a car wreck that was bad enough to shatter a ring on someone's finger, I don't think you'd be worried about a ring.

Tungsten Carbide and Tungsten are both very strong. I would suspect that anything that would cause it to shatter will completely destroy your hand.

Just don't wear it on your left hand ring finger. The finger the ring is on is more likely to denote being married than the metal of the ring. I always like rings like that on the middle finger, but that's just me. Any finger is fine, really, so it depends on which one you like the best. Tungsten carbide is a neat material, just make sure it's ordered in your size - they can't be re-sized later on.

Start with the yellow pagew of reputable jewelers, they should be able to get you on the right start or google, but I would and am hesitant about buying off of the inet.

I don't think this is such a smart idea. Hypothetically there could be a situation in which the strength of the ring could protect your finger from injury. However there is a higher probability that an illness or injury (from which the ring would have failed to protect) could make your finger swell. For a gold ring a thin jeweler's saw could be used to cut it open. With a super strong ring it is possible that you could lose the finger.
