I was looking into getting a black, either, tungsten carbide or titanium ring. What are the major differences to the two. Is titanium better quality? Which one lasts longer? etc etc, thanks!!
tungsten carbide is extremely hard but it as also very brittle. i think it would be better to get the titanium because the carbide might crack and break if you knock it.

I got a Tungsten Ring for $48 at the local Walmart. It says "Tunsten FC" in the ring. Does anyone know if it’s 100% Tungsten carbide or low quality? Thanks.

I’m getting married in August and we’ve started shopping for wedding bands. I have all but settled on a domed 8mm tungsten ring, but have a few concerns. I’ve read about tungsten’s ability to shatter and seen videos of rings being broken - while I’m all for being able to get it off if I break a finger, what would happen if I got in a fistfight? Not that it happens very often, but I’ll hopefully be wearing this ring for the rest of my life right? I’m sure that there will be at least a few times when I’ll have to throw a punch at someone without the benefit of being able to take my ring off first. Does anyone know (or preferably have experience of) whether the force exerted in, say, a punch to the jaw would be enough to shatter one? Thanks in advance.
I take it you are talking about a Tungsten Carbide ring.
I myself wear one and did a lot of research.
There is no amount of force you can generate that will break it, especially while wearing it. You are much more likely to break a finger then the ring. And yes, while getting them off if your hands swell is not the easiest, it takes a tremendous amount of force to break it. It would have to be enough force to crush your finger as well.
You could punch a brick wall full force and your ring will be fine… your hand… well not so much.
In short, bones will break before the Tungsten will break or shatter on your finger, The only way to get them off really is to use vice grips or something of that nature to apply pressure across a wide area of the surface in an attempt to bend it. Flesh has too punch give and a direct frontal impact doesn’t spread enough force across the ring.
In short, no, you will not break a Tungsten Carbide Ring in a fist fight.
