Tungsten Wedding Bands |

I was wondering if there is any way to authenticate a ring that is supposed to be made of tungsten carbide. It does not have it engraved on the inside of the ring, but I was ‘told’ it was when I bought it. There are ways to tell if a diamond is real, just wondering if there is a way to tell if a ring is made with a particular metal. Or do I just need to go to a jewerly store?

I would ask a profesional jeweler, dont do the hacksaw!!!

So i got advice from somebody that you can buy really cheap Tungsten Carbide Rings for men on ebay. So i bid and I won. It’s really nice looking and has a warranty and everything. But it is ridiculously cheap. So so cheap! So I was wondering if anyone else out there has bought a ring like this- and what is your advice on the situation. Is it legit?

check it when it comes - the inside should be stamped "tungsten carbide" - that means it’s real

I bought a wedding band from Kay.. Fits my personality.. Its Tungsten, with a carbon Fiber insert.. seems to have a thick laminate over the carbon fiber.. but Im curious if anyone else has one they have worn a lot? Does the insert scratch easily? I know tungsten itself is very strong.. just curious how the insert will hold up compared to everything else..
On the Kay comment.. the sales people were clueless.. 1/2 of them werent even aware it was in their case.. One lady told me the laminate over the carbon fiber insert was "clear" tungsten.. lol.. riiight.. for those not knowing what I mean.. here is a link to a similar ring..

I don’t know about the carbon fiber insert, but I can tell you that the tungsten is durable.

I have had mine for about 2 years now (as of July 1st), and I love it. Mine has a white gold insert that has a few scratches, but nothing to be concerned about. There is just something about the weight of tungsten that love.

I read somewhere that if for any reason you can’t get it off of your finger, they can’t cut it off. You actually have to break it off with impact.

My girlfriend and i went looking at wedding/ promise rings and i came across Tungsten Carbide Rings. I am familiar with the metal properties of the ring "a very hard meal used for tools." and the fact it is VERY hard to damage with every day life wear. What do you think of these new rings? How many have them?
I am not worried about the price. I like the fact that it is very hard to get a scratch in the metal like gold can. I honestly don’t like jems in my rings. I like the ones with a band of silver in the middle of the band.

My fiance bought a tungsten ring for his wedding band and he loves it. He is not flashy, he likes traditional things that are simple, not gaudy in any way. He also works with his hands all day so he needed something sturdy that would wear good. He loves the weight of it and it even has a bit of a design on it. The only thing is you cannot size these types of rings so if you gain/lose weight, you have to buy another one.

My fiance likes the Tungsten Wedding Bands, and I was going to purchase one for him … but the salesperson at the jewelry store told me that not only can they not be cut off easily in an emergency (which I was aware of), they also cannot be resized after it is made. He maintains his weight, so it’s not like he should need is resized any time soon … but what about when he gets older if his fingers change size?

Also, he is in the military and going to Afghanistan right after the wedding, so I am a bit concerned about the fact that the ring cannot be cut off easily since it’s a possibility.

We also looked at the white gold rings, but he really seemed to prefer the tungsten ones.

The salesperson is completely off. Tungsten Wedding Rings can be removed quickly without issues in an emergency. All it takes is a standard set of vice grips to crack the ring off.

It is true though, Tungsten Wedding Bands cannot be re-sized. You want to find a store that offers lifetime sizing. Be careful though, lots of stores claim lifetime sizing but they charge you for a ring replacement. We went to http://www.larsonjewelers.com/ because they offer free size exchanges on their tungsten rings.

Steve & Hilary with Fable Designs demonstrate how to safely remove a Tungsten Carbide & Black Ceramic Carbide ring. This is easily done using a table mounted vice grip as shown, or a pair of vice grip plyers.
